Blending Modern Techniques with Naxi Architectural Elements

Yu Jiang - gad, a renowned architectural firm, has breathed new life into the traditional architectural style of Lijiang, a city steeped in history and culture. The Lijiang Taohuayuan project, which was completed in 2022, draws inspiration from the local customs and residential building elements of the Naxi people, a major ethnic group in Lijiang. The project incorporates unique Naxi architectural elements such as "Rising mountains and falling ranges," "tile cat hanging fish," and "wooden lattice window" into its design, using modern techniques to create a living scene suitable for contemporary life.

The project's unique properties lie in its world-class landscape advantage. The design strategy was to incorporate the street market space of Lijiang Ancient Town into the layout of the Town Center, while also considering the local customs and features of Lijiang. The aim was to maximize the value of the plot and create a leisure, culture, and tourism block hidden in the natural water and mountains.

The project is located on the bank of Wenbi Sea of Lijiang, with the Lijiang High Speed Train Station to the east, Chengdu- Lijiang Highway to the south, Wenbi Mountain and Wenbi Sea to the west, and Lijiang City to the north. The location boasts a world-class landscape advantage, with Shangri La Scenic Area and Lijiang Ancient Town within 20km from the base.

In terms of design specifications, the building gradually gets higher from the west Wenbi Lake to the east. The project includes various forms of construction, including a two-story compound, four-story courtyard, duplex, eight-story condominiums, and foreign-style house, as well as the town center. The independent courtyard group and multi-story group fully ensure their privacy and openness. The comprehensive commercial supporting service facilities of the south and the north provide the life support for the whole vacation project.

The project was awarded Silver in A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award in 2022. The Silver A' Design Award is rewarded to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs, admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcase a remarkable level of excellence and introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
